It’s opening weekend at Petco

Baseball season officially begins April 7 in San Diego, when the Padres take on the San Francisco Giants at Petco Park. The first pitch is at 3:40 p.m. and is the first game in a three-game series.

Those in attendance at the Friday game will get an “opening day T-shirt,” courtesy of Sycuan Casino; Saturday attendees for the 5:40 p.m. game will experience a laser show, also presented by Sycuan Casino; and the Sunday, 1:40 p.m. game will focus on the kids, with a Compadres Kids Signing, KidsFest, and a postgame “kids run the bases.”

CRSSD Fest to electrify the waterfront

Less than a year after it opened, Downtown’s new Waterfront Park is set to host one of the biggest outdoor electronic music festivals San Diego has ever seen.

CRSSD Festival will feature 54 DJs, singer-songwriters and producers from March 14 to 15. Top-billed acts include Empire of the Sun, Chromeo, Maceo Plex, Classixx, Jamie Jones, Seth Troxler, Kaytranada and James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem.

SOHO produces an artful portrait of San Diego’s crown jewel

The Balboa Park Centennial celebration is nearly underway.

To commemorate the 1915 Panama-California Exposition, Save Our Heritage Organisation (SOHO) has partnered with local artist RD “Randy” Riccoboni and award-winning writer Ann Jarmusch to create the first-ever art traveler’s guide to Balboa Park.
