Closing Night Party at 4th & B
The Media Arts Center San Diego presented the 19th annual San Diego Latino Film Festival on March 8 – 18. This year, “Captive Beauty” was one of the films featured with a fashion theme. The film was about a beauty contest held in a women’s prison in Columbia, and intertwined the women’s stories with preparations for the beauty contest. Partly in honor, this year’s closing night party was held at 4th & B downtown. The celebration began with Latin music by Orquesta Binacional De Mambo and as the evening progressed, an upbeat fashion show began to a packed crowd. The Latino fashion designers were Jose Maria Ybarra, Arturo De Mendez and Hellen Magni. Models showed off the hot and sexy designs. Vanessa Diaz, Martha Corzo Marell, Marissa Corzo and Julie Fought produced the show. For more information about The Media Arts Center San Diego visit mediaartscenter.org.
Spring Style Soiree
The Junior League of San Diego presented their third annual Spring Style Soiree 2012 on March 30. This upbeat fashion show and fundraiser was held downtown at FLUXX San Diego. The evening started with a fun social hour as emcees Cindy Matalucci of The Pulse San Diego and Dean Hall of Fashion 5.0 Magazine got the runway event going. The Fashion Show was a combination of well-known brands and local designers, with bright colors the trend of the night. Fusionelle came down the catwalk with dresses that had a Western style with an Eastern flair; EA Vintage spiced up the runway with retro looks; and Custo Barcelona is always innovative with their bold prints and colors. Local boutiques Capricorn and Ceclia Boutique made a presence with their fashionable clothes. Banana Republic showed a majority of yellow in their modern collection; Karen Millen delighted the audience with tailored clothing; and Cache ended the show with stunning gowns.
